Case Study:

In the world of user experience (UX) design, working with top-tier clients and managing complex projects can present both exciting challenges and significant opportunities for impact.

In this case study, I will share with you about when I worked at Solera where I collaborated with an elite UX team where we not only created branding but also collaborated with top automobile companies.

Redesigning a Diverse Portfolio

As a key member of the Solera UX team, I was entrusted with the redesign and integration of over 60 products.

This extensive undertaking involved not only reimagining user interfaces but also ensuring seamless integration across various platforms. The challenge was not only to enhance user experiences but also to align diverse products under a cohesive design strategy.

High-Profile Collaborations

Two standout projects during this period where I was the lead UX Designer was the Mercedes Me application and the State Farm Pocket Estimate iOS application. Working with renowned brands like Mercedes-Benz and State Farm presented unique opportunities and demands.

  • Mercedes Me Application: For Mercedes-Benz, I co-created and prototyped the Mercedes Me application, which became a significant revenue generator. My efforts in developing an impressive design MVP (Minimum Viable Product) resulted in an influx of $1.8 million for Solera. This project was a testament to the power of thoughtful design and constant clear communication.
  • State Farm Pocket Estimate iOS App: The State Farm Pocket Estimate app was another notable project where I was the lead designer. My focus was on delivering the project within a specific time frame and under budget. This achievement underscored the importance of efficiency and precision in UX design and project management.

Leading Design Innovation

In addition to high-profile collaborations, I was the lead of several significant initiatives:

  • Scheduling Application for Car Dealerships: Leading a design team, I spearheaded the creation of a robust scheduling application tailored for car dealerships across the Wasatch Front. This application streamlined dealership operations, optimizing scheduling processes and improving overall efficiency.
  • Universal Design Guide: Another pivotal role was leading the design implementation, and direction for the color testing accessibility and usability within the Universal Design Guide. This guide was instrumental in standardizing accessibility practices and was adopted by over 100 companies, reflecting its global relevance and effectiveness.
  • Global Standards Integration: Alongside my UX team members, I contributed to implementing a new universal design guide. This guide was crafted to meet global standards, ensuring consistency and usability across various platforms and industries.

Conclusion

Through these projects, I’ve had the privilege of not only working with leading brands but also driving significant improvements in user experience across diverse applications. From generating substantial revenue to enhancing operational efficiencies and standardizing design practices, the impact of thoughtful UX design extends far beyond aesthetics. This case study highlights the critical role that I had on this team in shaping effective, user-centered solutions that aligned with both business goals and global standards.
